GC comes out and drives down to score on the opening possession off the second half to go up 14. Richlands fumbles and that sets up a short field to go up 21. To me, the back breaker was giving up a 4th and 9 TD pass.

Give me the Blues (Richlands blue) in a very close game. They already have a game under their belt and had a chance to get the rust off. Also they can clean up some mental errors and mistakes. GC will make some mistakes it being their first game, even the greatest of teams do, Richlands has to score on those mistakes. Williamsburg, VA, offers a vibrant array of sporting events and tournaments throughout the year. For golf enthusiasts, the area hosts prestigious tournaments on some of the country’s most beautiful courses.

Honestly i think a lot of us are hoping for a Richlands win. Hate to see any team struggle the way they have. It feels like GC is getting closer to being GC. Not sure what they have in the lower grades but watching them play last season was the hardest I’ve seen them play in awhile.

Facing Bluefield, Princeton and Union early on will be tough to start the season next year, for sure. Throwing the ball all around the yard is great. Look at Lebanon, Tazewell, and Honaker from past years. The bottom line is you cant get out rushed by 150+ and win a lot of games. The VH AD messed up the schedule and double booked Graham/Richlands for the same night. They got special permission to play week 0.

Football time

I don’t know much about Perry Central other than it’s a pretty large school. The tougher the competition in the regular season, the better. I know there’s the deal with power points, but Union took 3 losses and still ended up as the #2 seed. Strasburg had one loss and still outpointed Graham to be the home team in the finals.

GC returns a lot of players this year, several seniors with experience. On an Android phone, go to the home page of the Telegraph, and check the box “Desktop site”. Then, hard press on the link you want to read. Once the menu pops up, select Open in incognito tab.

They have a great atmosphere and it’s not a bad drive. This is what I’ve been wanting to see from Graham for a while now. No need to be playing single a’s anymore. Hopefully Galax is next for someone like Abingdon. Wouldn’t mind seeing them play someone like Lord Botetourt either.

Gate city at Richlands

• I would say Princeton should be the favorite in that one next season with what Graham is losing.

Daniel Boone only shows 8 games currently with openings on Sept 5th, Oct 3rd and Oct 10th. Possible spot there for Union that may have not been published yet. I would like to see more matchups with swva and NE Tennessee. There is no rating penalty for playing single A in Virginia other than pride. No Laws that I know of, but they do have a hard running RB and FB. Little brother to Carson Jenkins that was usually the fastest player on the field in any game.

That ensured the game wouldn’t be close. RHS had a big pass play for a TD but the damage was done. I think officialparimatch.com GC was the better team but this game could have been a lot closer. Momentum is the most underrated aspect of a game…..especially when the players are years old. Looking at the schedule I think 4-6 is Richlands ceiling.

Good to know that they are only trailing in one game now lol. Playing DB and Crockett will help them in the long run. The most concerning thing about GC is the offensive line, if doesn’t improve a lot they are going to have a long season. The Daddy Hat is a sideline prop for whoever scores a touchdown, they’ve had that prop for several years.

It may cost you a home playoff game now and again, but I think it’s worth it. They go to Union it seems like every season, so I’m sure it was a choice to help spread the love to other SWVA schools. It’s a shame Ridgeview isn’t playing Perry Central in basketball. Perry Central has probably the best high school gym I’ve ever been in.

Glenvar-Northside (Roanoke), Lebanon-Rural Retreat, VH -TH, Eastside-Chilhowie, Grayson Co.- Floyd Co. Alleghany-RE Lee (Staunton), Appo-Buckingham. Those are the ones I’m interested in.

Blues are lucky to have this early off week. I still think we have a chance at a 5-5 season, but that won’t happen unless they figure out something on the lines. I think I’m still in disbelief that football season starts in one week. Hopefully, I can get that figured out by then. They should make both defensive coordinators in this game do their team’s laundry tonight to earn their pay.
